Troll, Vestival, The Farmers Market and a Kale Recipe

Sadly... since I quit smoking I have lost the focus needed to work in paperclay and so far this is all I've done on my little guy. Well I also have the bones of his arms and legs finished but Adam assures me that it will come back and soon. He had quit smoking about a year and a half ago and said he had the same issue but it didn't last long. Really wanted my troll to be done for Vestival because I have no more big cloth and clay dolls ready. Therefore none to display :(

My mother and I finally got our spot for Vestival. Every year they would put us in the same place and the evening Sun was scorching along with the pains of squeezing our tent up into low hanging tree limbs in our assigned space so finally mom requested a different area and we got it! Yayyy!
For locals who are attending we are about 3 spaces up on the right when entering from Candora Ave. at Maryville Pike.
Check out VESTIVAL on facebook :D

Finally got to go to our local Farmer's Market last Thursday. It's still early so wasn't a whole lot there but it was worth it. For $9 I got to get some homegrown new potatoes, a bunch of onions, spinach, radishes, romaine lettuce, etc. mmm..... I'm gonna hit it each week from now on since it's only 5 minutes down the road.

I also picked up a Kale recipe while there. Cooked it up last night and was just wowed at how good it was! Adam is not into veggies that much and he went back for seconds! lol The taste and texture was oh so goooood :) It cooks quickly so make sure you have everything chopped and all the ingredients on hand before you start and you will need a large covered kettle or pan. Also I only purchased one bunch of Kale (1 lb) and it turned out just fine. If you've never had Kale and are a fan of greens you will Love this. It now ranks right up there with my most favorite... Poke Salad. For Poke haters, No Worries it doesn't taste anything like it :D
Oh yeah and we just used water instead of veg. stock.

Adam and I got inspired to do a little planting of our own this year. Seeing as it's just the two of us we tried a couple of pallet gardens and lookey at my baby zucchini's! They popped up in no time. Also my spineless okra and broccoli has sprouted. Still waiting on my lettuce and spinach though..... Looks like I'll have to seperate the zucchini here soon. I have some old flower pots on hand for that. I also need to get my pole beans planted. Gonna have to dig out the trellis and big pot for that :) Hope to get enough yield from those so I can can some Dilly Beans this year. Yum!

I wish I could make the trip to the Vestival! I wanna go!! :)

Your focus will return...and then look out - you'll be making all kinds of things!!

all the veggies (the farmer's and yours) look great. I may have to give the kale recipe a try. Always looking for something new.

Yes! You gotta try it :)

And yay.... a little of the spark came back yesterday. I hopped into my craft room and started on the last 4 chime dolls I wanted to have finished by this weekend and this morning I just have to paint their faces and add hair and they'll be done!

Summer your troll head looks sweet,I look foward to seeing him done.

Would love to go to the Vestival, it sucks when all the good place to go are so far away.

Your inspiration to create will return, mine has been slow so maybe it's something in the air spreading all over the world LOL.

Your farmers Market look awesome, if only we had the outdoors once here this time of year, not till late July.

So sorry you're losing focus that way... you certainly aren't losing any artictic quality, that's for sure. I hope the focus comes back real soon. Maybe the gardening will help.
Those are some beautiful veggies... nice find.
